Three police officers lost their lives yesterday when their armored vehicle hit an improvised device planted by terrorists on the Anka-Bagega Road in Zamfara State.
The incident happened during a clearance operation in Anka LGA on June 15.
Superintendent Abdulrazak Musa Hassan, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal commander, Inspector Murtala Musa from the Violence Crime Response Unit, and Inspector Auwal Ahmad from the EOD Unit were in the vehicle at the time.
Security teams regularly check roads in the area because terrorists often place such devices to target passersby and forces.
This event shows the continued risks officers face while working to secure the region.
Local authorities have started investigations and plan to increase efforts against these terrorists. Residents urge faster action to restore safety on major routes.
More updates will follow as details emerge.
