Troops stopped terrorists from grabbing civilians on a Borno road Friday and freed 31 people.
Soldiers from Operation HADIN KAI spotted the group on the Buratai-Kamuya Road in Biu Local Government Area around 3:45 p.m.
The terrorists had stopped four vehicles and tried to take the people inside toward Mangari-Dora.
Troops from the 135 Special Forces Battalion at Dutsen Kura picked up the movement and sent a quick response force.
The force opened fire, and the terrorists dropped the 31 people, the four vehicles, and some motorcycles before running into the bush.
All 31 people came out unharmed. The vehicles stayed intact.
Troops then escorted everyone and the vehicles back to Buratai so the travelers could continue their journeys.
Captain Mohammed Goni of Operation HADIN KAI said the troops will keep working to clear terrorists and protect the roads.
