Terrorists attacked Rafin Ciyawa village in Bauchi State around 12:30 a.m. on July 1. Residents first thought the gunshots came from police or local vigilantes.
The attackers moved through the village and shot at children sleeping outside a Quranic teacher’s house.
They killed two children and wounded six others.
The terrorists then searched houses for two brothers who had received money.
When they failed to find them, the terrorists abducted three family members instead.
Zubairu Yahaya described the moment.
“We thought the gunshots were from policemen or local vigilantes.
It was only later that we realised the village was under attack by terrorists.”
Mukhtar Usman said the terrorists took his relatives and demanded ransom.
Negotiations continue as security teams hunt for the abductees.
Police confirmed the incident and deployed units to the area.
Village leaders now call for more protection against future attacks.
