Terrorists struck two communities in Plateau State over the weekend, leaving 12 people dead.
The incidents happened on 8 and 9 May in Gwa Rim village, Riyom Local Government Area, and Zhe Brazongo village, Bassa Local Government Area.
Residents say the attackers came in and opened fire before using machetes on those they found.
Local sources report that the victims include men, women and children from the affected villages.
Security forces from Operation Enduring Peace later moved into the areas, carried out patrols and began tracking the terrorists responsible.
These events form part of a pattern of repeated violence across several local government areas in the state.
Communities in the region have faced ongoing clashes linked to disputes over land and resources between farming and herding groups.
Authorities have urged calm while operations continue to restore normalcy.
Residents in nearby villages say they now live in fear of further incidents as night falls.
More updates will follow as security agencies release additional details.
