Terrorists entered the Offa 132kV Transmission Substation in Kwara State on 7 May and held workers hostage.
The group arrived shortly after midnight and ordered operators to open specific power feeders at 12:45 am.
They then interfered with control equipment, including the main transformer, before demanding a complete shutdown of the station.
Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) staff complied under duress.
The company later declared force majeure as a result of the incident.
Engineers restored electricity supply to affected areas within hours, and no one suffered injury.
This event adds to ongoing security concerns around Nigeria’s power infrastructure.
TCN has not released further details about the terrorists or their motives.
Local residents reported brief disruptions but said power returned to normal by morning in most places.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
