Corps members at the Lagos State NYSC orientation camp have raised concerns over the lack of water supply.
Many say they struggle to get enough water for daily needs during the three-week programme.
A survey at the camp showed that irregular electricity stops the pumps from working properly.
The existing storage tanks also fall short for the large number of participants.
As a result, corps members line up for long periods or go without water at certain times of the day.
One corps member who spoke on condition of anonymity described how the situation affects basic activities.
“We wake up early to fetch water before it runs out,” the person said.
Others noted that the problem appears every year when new batches arrive, yet it continues without clear improvement.
Officials at the camp have not yet issued a public statement on steps to fix the issue.
In the past, similar shortages at NYSC camps across the country have led to complaints about living conditions during orientation.
Transition to full service, many corps members now hope authorities will address the water supply before the next set of graduates report to camp.
For now, participants continue with their activities while managing the limited resources available.
This situation highlights ongoing challenges with basic facilities at orientation camps, even as thousands of young Nigerians take part in the mandatory national service each year.
