Terrorists have taken a Monarch, his wife and another person from their palace in Olayinka community, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The incident happened around 1:40 a.m. on Saturday when the group entered the palace and left with the three victims.
The monarch had received his elevation and official installation from the Kwara State Government only earlier this year.
A local source who spoke on condition of anonymity said the community woke up to the news with fear.
“It happened at Olayinka around 1 a.m.,” the source explained. “His wife and one other person went with him.
The monarch belongs to the group of rulers recently graded.
”This marks the third time in the past year that terrorists have taken a traditional ruler in Kwara South.
In 2025, two similar cases ended with the release of the monarchs after families paid ransom.
Residents say the repeated incidents have left many worried about safety in the area.
Traditional leaders now face the same risks as ordinary citizens in parts of the region where such attacks continue.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the abduction, and security agencies have not issued a detailed statement on efforts to locate the victims.
Families and community leaders hope for a quick and safe return of those taken.
The event adds to ongoing concerns about security in rural parts of Kwara South, where attacks on communities have become more frequent.
