Terrorists stopped vehicles on the Ibadan-Ijebu road in Oyo State on Friday evening and left one person dead while they took several others away.
The incident happened around 7pm on 18 April 2026.
Travellers drove along the busy road when the terrorists came out from the bush nearby.
They fired at the cars and forced some passengers into the forest.
One eyewitness described the moment traffic stopped suddenly.
People ran back towards Ibadan as they shouted that the road was blocked.
“We later learned they took one life and went away with several others from the other cars,” the eyewitness said.
Motorists who use the route now face fresh worry.
Many drivers have begun to look for other ways to travel, especially after dark.
Local residents have shared warnings on social media and urged people to stay away from the expressway until the situation becomes clearer.
This event forms part of a wider pattern of such incidents that have spread into the southwest in recent months.
Authorities have not yet issued a full statement on the matter, but people in the area continue to call for stronger measures along the road.
For now, travellers in Oyo State and nearby regions plan their journeys with extra care.
The road that links Ibadan with Ijebu areas remains a key route for many, yet events like this remind everyone how quickly conditions can change.
