A man accused of a triple fatal incident, including the loss of a Department of Homeland Security worker, has died in custody in the United States.
Olaolukitan Adon Abel, 26, was found unresponsive in his cell at DeKalb County Jail.
Officers and medical staff responded and tried to revive him, but he was confirmed dead shortly after.
Authorities say Abel faced charges linked to an incident that led to the loss of three lives.
Investigators believe at least one of the incidents did not target a specific individual.
However, officials have not confirmed any link between Abel and the victims.
Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies have opened an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his death in custody.
Officials say they will review surveillance footage, medical records, and staff reports to establish what happened.
Abel was born in the United Kingdom and later became a naturalised United States citizen in 2022 during his service in the U.S. Navy.
His background has now come under scrutiny as questions emerge about screening and vetting processes.
In addition, the Department of Homeland Security has recently acknowledged gaps in its background check systems.
That disclosure has added to concerns about how individuals with security risks may pass through official checks.
As the investigation continues, authorities say they will release more details once findings become clear.
