Lagos authorities rescued 106 youths Tuesday after agents shut down a scam operation inside a three-bedroom apartment in Ilado.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps moved in following intelligence reports.
Agents arrested the man who ran the scheme.
He had promised victims admission into a foreign university through an online program that never existed.
Victims paid between ₦200,000 and ₦1.5 million each for admission and processing.
Some foreigners handed over $400 to $500.
The operator also pushed participants to recruit more students for commissions, which turned the setup into a recruitment chain.
Youths came from states like Kogi and Oyo plus countries including Niger, Cameroon, and Togo. Most were between 19 and 24 years old.
Officials now profile everyone before they return home.
Investigators continue to search for other people involved and check whether similar operations run in additional locations.
The bust shows how scammers continue to target young people seeking education opportunities.
