Police in Lagos arrested a man Tuesday for padlocking the gate on his late son’s house and locking out the 28-year-old widow Tosin eight days after the husband’s death.
Activist Harrison Gwamnishu shared video of the incident online.
The clip showed the father-in-law securing the property while Tosin and her two children stood outside.
The family had clashed over ownership of the house.
Tosin told authorities her in-laws threatened her and tried to seize the property.
She reported the matter to Owutu Police Division.
Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency stepped in after the video spread.
Officers took the father-in-law into custody. Investigations continue as officials examine the threats and property dispute.
The case draws attention to how quickly tensions can rise in inheritance matters following a death.
