Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on international partners to supply additional air defence systems without delay.
He spoke out after Russian forces carried out strikes across Ukraine on Tuesday that resulted in seven deaths, including a child.
The attacks hit several areas, with one missile striking the city of Dnipro in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Officials there reported that the strike damaged residential buildings and infrastructure.
Emergency teams worked at the scene amid the debris as smoke rose from affected sites.
Regional authorities said the Dnipro incident alone claimed several lives and left more than two dozen people injured.
Some of the wounded remain in hospital, with a number in serious condition.
Across the country, the total number of people who lost their lives in the day’s strikes reached seven.
Zelenskyy described the situation as urgent.
He stressed that Ukraine needs more missiles and systems to protect its cities and towns from ongoing aerial assaults.
In recent weeks, Russian forces have launched hundreds of drones and missiles in waves that target both civilian areas and energy facilities.
The president has made similar appeals in the past, pointing out that stronger air defences could limit the impact of these operations.
He noted that daily strikes continue and that every delivery from allies makes a difference on the ground.
Meanwhile, rescue workers and local teams continue to clear damage in Dnipro and other affected locations.
Hospitals have taken in the injured, and support services have stepped in to help residents.
This latest round of violence comes as the conflict enters another phase with no immediate end in sight.
Ukraine’s leaders say they will keep pressing partners for the tools needed to shield the population and maintain essential services.
