A truck with failed brakes slammed into six cars and two tricycles at the Toll Gate area on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway on Sunday morning, injuring five people.
The incident happened when the truck came down the road at high speed and could not stop.
It hit the vehicles in its path one after another.
Eyewitnesses said the driver tried to control the truck but the brakes gave way completely.
Rescue teams and officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps quickly reached the scene.
They moved three of the injured to General Hospital in Ota for treatment.
Family members took the other two away for medical care.
Authorities later towed the damaged vehicles off the road to restore traffic flow.
Officers urged all drivers to check their vehicles properly before any journey, especially the brakes and other key parts.
No deaths occurred in the crash. Traffic built up for hours after the accident as officials cleared the wreckage.
Similar brake failure cases have caused problems on this expressway before, especially with heavy trucks.
