Three police officers lost their lives in the incident while two others sustained injuries.

Residents nearby heard heavy gunfire and left their homes for safety.

This event comes two weeks after a similar incident in the same local government area where terrorists confronted a military base and three soldiers lost their lives.

State police authorities have described the latest event as serious and say teams are working to find those responsible.

No group has claimed involvement so far.

People in the area now express concern over the repeated incidents involving security forces in the North-Central region.
