Terrorists entered Sabon Birni town in Sokoto State on Monday night and took the life of one Sokoto Community Guard member while they carried away several residents.

This marks the third time groups have tried to enter the town using the same route, according to local sources.

The incident happened near the Eid prayer ground at Kantin Gabas on the edge of town.

Hon. Aminu Boza, who represents the area in the Sokoto State House of Assembly, confirmed the events.

He noted that the community already shelters many people who left other villages because of earlier problems in the region.

A resident said around 10 people were taken during the operation.

Boza added that the exact number is still unclear because some residents may have hidden in bushes or were away from home at the time.

The community guard suffered a wound during the clash and passed away on the way to hospital the next morning.

Residents now worry about what may happen next as the town deals with these repeated incidents.
