Terrorists have sent threat letters to communities in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State, where they warn of plans to kidnap schoolchildren.
The letters reached several villages in recent days.
Local residents report that the messages name specific schools and set dates for the operations.
This development comes after terrorists abducted a petrol station manager near one secondary school in the area.
He later gained release after payment of ransom.
Festus Ogundairo, chairman of the local hunters’ association, responded to the threats.
He called on authorities to provide his team with approved weapons, bullets, and motorcycles.
Ogundairo explained that hunters know the terrain well and can respond effectively if they receive the right support.
Communities now organise meetings to discuss safety measures for children.
Parents keep their sons and daughters closer to home while they wait for official action.
Security sources confirm they monitor the situation, but residents say response times remain slow in past incidents.
Ogundairo added that without better equipment, the hunters operate at a disadvantage against the terrorists who move freely through the forests.
He urged state officials to act before the threats turn into more abductions.
