Residents in Abuja’s Jikwoyi and Kugbo area have repelled a group of terrorists who entered their street with guns and machetes.
The incident happened on Sunday evening.
Eyewitnesses say the terrorists stormed the residential neighbourhood, but local people quickly came together and outnumbered them.
The terrorists then left the area, and no one lost their lives in the clash.
One resident who saw what happened shared her experience with shaking hands.
She said it felt different to witness such an event after only hearing about similar cases in the news.
She added that people now worry the terrorists could come back.
Tension stays high in the community as families keep watch.
Many have expressed concern over how long it takes for security forces to respond when trouble starts in parts of the city.
This event comes at a time when communities across Nigeria sometimes organise themselves for protection amid repeated security challenges.
Residents in the area continue to stay alert while they wait for updates from the authorities.
