Terrorists killed residents and abducted several women in Bunkasau village in Zamfara state on Friday night.
The attackers, who numbered about eighty, arrived on motorcycles and shot at villagers before they took people away, mostly women, and seized livestock.
Residents continue to search for those who went missing after the assault.
One villager, who asked not to be named for safety reasons, described how the incident happened late at night.
He added that people in the village still look for family members.
He called on the federal government and the Zamfara state government to send security forces to the area and restore peace.
Meanwhile, the spokesman for the Zamfara state police, DSP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the attack.
He said officers could not yet confirm the number of people killed.
The police command has sent personnel to the village to restore order.
He urged communities to provide accurate information on the movement of terrorists so that police can respond without delay.
This latest incident comes as villagers in the northwest continue to face repeated attacks and press for stronger security in rural areas.
