The South-East region recorded seven fatalities in March, the lowest in the country amid escalating insecurity.
A report by Statisense draws on data from the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project and sets out the figures.
The North-East recorded 782 fatalities. The North-West recorded 290. The North-Central recorded 168.
The South-South recorded 24. The South-West recorded 14.
Nigeria recorded a total of 1,285 fatalities across all regions.
The country averaged 42.8 deaths per day. In the South-East, however, a fatality occurred only once every 4.3 days on average.
In addition, 99.46 percent of all fatalities took place outside the South-East.
This means about five deaths in every 1,000 nationwide happened in the region.
The data covers events tracked by the project, including demonstrations, political violence and terrorist activity.
