Peter Obi donated N10 million to Bishop Anagbogu Western Academy in Umueze Anambra State, on 13 March in bid to better learning environment.
He visited the school that Friday in Anambra West local council area.
The school began operations three years ago and still uses church buildings for classrooms.
Obi handed over the money to support work on structures for the primary and secondary sections.
After the presentation Obi spoke to the students.
He told them to focus on their studies because education creates chances to succeed anywhere in the world.
He added that hard work lets anyone compete and build a strong path ahead.
Obi then shared his own story from the area.
He explained that he started primary school at St Augustine Primary School in Umuoba Anam.
He recalled how communities once reached the place only by boat.
Later he worked with the federal government to build a bridge and start road links to open up the region.
The bishop who oversees the school then thanked Obi for the visit and the donation.
Most Rev Dr Obiora Uzochukwu said the support would help the students and the team in charge.
Next the senior prefect spoke for the pupils and students.
Miss Udenze Ifeyinwa noted that the day gave everyone fresh energy and showed care for children in the community.
Obi made the trip with communication expert Chinyere Stella Okunna who also urged the students to stay committed to learning.
The visit forms part of Obi’s ongoing push to back education across the state.
