Katsina State has taken delivery of 15 state-of-the-art intensive care ambulances to launch round-the-clock emergency medical services across the state.
The government officially received the fully equipped vehicles on January 5, 2026, at Government House in Katsina.
Chief of Staff Alhaji Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir accepted the ambulances on behalf of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, describing the move as “another promise fulfilled by the Radda administration.”
Each ambulance features modern life-support systems, oxygen units, patient monitors, stretchers, and essential resuscitation equipment.
Officials emphasize that these units function as true mobile intensive care facilities.
They enable paramedics to stabilize patients during transit, particularly in critical cases involving road accidents, disasters, or sudden medical emergencies.
Governor Radda has directed strategic deployment of the fleet.
Authorities will station the ambulances along major highways, in densely populated urban zones, and within rural communities to guarantee rapid response times.
With increased road construction and rehabilitation boosting vehicular traffic, the governor stressed the urgent need for preparedness: higher movement inevitably raises accident risks.
The initiative forms part of the State Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (SEMSAS), approved by the State Executive Council in November 2025.
It directly tackles preventable deaths in a region long challenged by delayed emergency care.
Furthermore, the ambulances complement other bold healthcare reforms under Governor Radda.
His administration has renovated and upgraded hundreds of primary health centres, recruited additional medical staff, and rolled out tricycle ambulances to reach all 361 political wards—especially remote rural areas.
Chief of Staff Nasir underscored the life-saving potential.
“These units are not just vehicles; they are mobile intensive-care units designed to save lives at the most critical moments,” he declared.
He added firmly: “No citizen of Katsina State should lose their life simply because help could not arrive in time.”
The deployment will roll out in phases across the state’s three senatorial zones and key health facilities.
As a result, emergency response times will shrink dramatically, inter-hospital referrals will become safer and faster, and overall access to life-saving care will expand statewide.
This decisive step signals Governor Radda’s unwavering commitment to transforming healthcare in Katsina.
Residents now gain stronger protection against emergencies, marking a significant advance toward a healthier, more resilient state in 2026.
