Iran’s science minister says US and Israeli strikes have hit more than 30 universities across the country since the war began in late February.
Hossein Simai Sarraf spoke to reporters on Saturday while he visited Shahid Beheshti University in northern Tehran.
Israeli and US forces struck that campus the previous day.
“To date, more than 30 universities have been directly targeted,” he said.
The minister’s comments come as the conflict moves into its second month.
Iranian officials report that more than 1,900 civilians have died in the fighting overall.
Iran’s foreign minister has also spoken out against the attacks on educational sites.
He says they form part of a wider effort to weaken the country’s scientific work.
The Nigerian outlet linked to its full report on the claims.
Meanwhile, Israeli officials maintain that some of the universities have ties to military research programmes linked to the Revolutionary Guards.
Earlier strikes on sites such as the Iran University of Science and Technology and Isfahan University of Technology followed the same pattern, they say.
The numbers released on Saturday mark an increase from figures given by Iran’s Ministry of Science a week ago, which put the total at 21 universities damaged.
The latest strikes continue a pattern that has seen both sides accuse each other of targeting civilian infrastructure.
