A drone and missile attack struck Russia’s southern Rostov region overnight, killing one person and seriously wounding four others.
The strike hit the port city of Taganrog, according to the regional governor.
Yuri Slyusar posted the details on Telegram early on Saturday.
He said the victims suffered serious injuries, with three of them in critical condition.
Emergency crews reached the scene where debris had fallen.
They worked to contain fires and deal with the destruction on the ground.
A missile struck a commercial facility in the area, and a fire broke out at the warehouses of a logistics company.
Officials evacuated people from the affected spots.
Falling debris from the attack also hit a foreign-flagged cargo ship in the waters of Taganrog Bay in the Sea of Azov.
The impact caused damage to the vessel.
Air defences destroyed several drones over the bay and other districts in the region.
The governor gave no further details on the exact number of drones involved or the full extent of the damage to homes and vehicles.
Local reports described the overnight operation as intense, with explosions heard across parts of the city.
This incident comes a day after Russian strikes killed 14 people in Ukraine on Friday.
Both sides continue to exchange drone and missile attacks as the conflict enters its fifth year.
Authorities in Rostov have not yet released the identity of the person who died or the nationalities of those wounded.
One of the injured is understood to be a foreign citizen.
Residents in Taganrog received assistance after the event, though officials focused mainly on the immediate response and containment efforts.
The port city lies close to the border with Ukraine and serves as an important hub for industry and shipping in the region.
No independent verification of the casualty figures was immediately available beyond the governor’s statement.
Ukrainian officials have not commented on the reported strike.
