Alumni from Christ the King College’s 2005 set reach out to prisoners with education aids and cash gifts.
On January 6, the 2005 alumni of the prestigious Christ the King College (CKC) Onitsha stepped into the Nigerian Correctional Centre in Onitsha, turning a regular day into one of real encouragement for the inmates.
These old boys, now successful in their own right, focused their visit on supporting the inmates pursuing degrees through the National Open University of Nigeria program inside the facility.
They handed over a generous haul of educational materials, including five dozen thick notebooks, ten packets of whiteboard markers, and a whopping 3,400 biros to keep the learning going strong.
But they didn’t stop there.
The group also provided medical supplies valued at ₦100,000 to help with health needs.
And in a personal touch that likely meant the world, they gave a cash gift of ₦2,000 each to around 100 inmates enrolled in the university program.
This kind of outreach fits right in with CKC’s long-standing motto of goodness, discipline, and knowledge.
The 2005 set has a track record of giving back—just last year, they donated sports gear and cash to their alma mater.
Now, they’re extending that spirit to those who need it most, reminding everyone that education can open doors, even behind bars.
Visits like this not only boost morale but also highlight how community efforts can play a big role in rehabilitation.
It’s a heartfelt way to start the year, showing that old school ties can lead to real acts of kindness.
