The attack unfolded around 2:30 p.m. when the terrorists opened fire on a routine patrol of CJTF members and local hunters.
The vigilantes fought back immediately, turning the encounter into a prolonged exchange of gunfire.
Security sources confirmed that troops from Operation Hadin Kai stayed on high alert along the axis afterward and intensified patrols to block any follow-up assaults.
In the clash, five Boko Haram terrorists fell.
Three CJTF fighters—Yunusa Ali Ananicha, Adamu Zakari, and Daddy Ali—also lost their lives.
Authorities evacuated the bodies of the fallen vigilantes to Gwoza General Hospital, where medical personnel certified them dead on arrival.
